A social annual report: what should be included?
When your organisation has an employee representation, you are required to prepare a social annual report. You can largely determine what should be included in it, but there are some requirements.
The most important requirement for an annual report
What do you have to meet when writing an annual report. At least report once every year on the number of people and the different groups that work within your organisation. You must also explain which social policy you have pursued. Of course you also indicate what you expect in the above areas.
Subjects in the annual report
Actually, all subjects on which the Works Council has the right of consent are suitable to be described in the annual report. Arrangements regarding compensation, evaluation, or other personnel instruments for the employees. Some topics are mandatory to include:
- working conditions and sick leave
- employee appraisal, compensation, or job classification system
- arrangements concerning working hours or vacations
- pension insurance, profit-sharing, or savings scheme
- employment, dismissal, or promotion policy
- employee training
- company social work and handling of complaints
- work meetings
- registration and handling of employees' personal data
- facilities for monitoring employees' presence, behavior, or performance
Examples of sociale annual reports

In the annual report, you also present the key facts and figures. Think of sick leave, complaints and their handling, as well as aspects like age distribution. And, of course, the financial accountability.
